Relaxed Performances

Footlighters Theater is proud to offer relaxed performances for our productions to help expand access to theater and the arts. These performances are adjusted for audience members of diverse sensory and communication needs. This may include, but is not limited to, individuals under 6 years old, individuals with autism, ADD, and sensory sensitivities.

Adjustments to the performance may include:

• House lights on low, lighting left on in entrances
• Reduced lighting (strobe, flashes)
• Reduced volume on harsh or startling sounds/pitches
• Access to downstairs and outside areas for a quiet breaks 
• Freedom to respond physically and vocally throughout the performance
• for example, members of the audience may feel free to use electronic speech output devices, rock, dance, stand, move. This is a judgment free zone!

Some fidget toys are available for use during the performance. Audience members are encouraged to bring items for their best function and comfort, including communication devices, fidget/sensory items, and noise reducing headphones.

*Please note that our historic building currently has access only by stairs.
